Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing criminal enterprises in the world. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), Southeast Asia, including Indonesia — the homeland of our family recipes — is one of the most affected regions. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports that victims are forced into labor, sexual exploitation, and domestic servitude.
Our Commitment
A portion of every Komodo Sauces purchase goes directly to organizations fighting human trafficking, including partners like The Exodus Road and International Justice Mission. This isn't a marketing play — it's personal. Our Indonesian heritage connects us directly to communities affected by trafficking.

Supporting teams that identify and rescue trafficking victims from exploitation.
Survivor Rehabilitation

Our Story
Our story begins in Indonesia, in 1918, when my (CEO of Komodo Sauces, Gabe Fung-A-Wing) great-grandmother was lured onto a Dutch merchant vessel as a victim of human trafficking. The history of Javanese contract workers in Suriname is well-documented — thousands were transported under exploitative conditions. She didn't have much recollection of exactly what happened throughout her journey on that boat... but she ended up in Suriname, a small country in South America.
After she spent a decent amount of time as an indentured servant, she eventually earned her freedom. With that, a portion of our heritage was preserved and handed down — from one generation to the next. From Java, Indonesia to Atlanta, Georgia. From indentured servants to immigrants to US citizens.
Now, in Suriname and in Indonesia there were (and are) these 3 unbelievably amazing sauces used on many, many dishes. Two of which were sweet and spicy, and the other which was straight heat. Well, my great-grandmother used to make them by hand. And so some of our favorite things that were passed down through generations were the recipes for these sweet and savory hot sauces.
In the past, the only way they could get their hands on the sauces would be if Grandma brought some in her carry-on from Suriname. But as time went on and as the family started to grow, we started to learn how to make it ourselves! We would make it for almost every family gathering we had and oh man did the sauces just elevate everything we put it on!
Years later, me and my family decided that we wanted to share this hot sauce with the world. It was the best! Why wouldn't we?! And so I started Komodo Sauces. I named this company Komodo Sauces because the word Komodo comes from Komodo Island in Indonesia which is home to the Komodo Dragon. Our sauces are hot and fiery. Our sauces are also from Indonesia, and so are Komodo Dragons. So I put two and two together. And got... Komodo Sauces.
Not only does our company provide great products that we are absolutely certain you'll love, but our business is also committed to fighting modern-day slavery and human trafficking. It's part of our story. And we want to take part in the fight for those who can't fight for themselves. With each bottle purchased, you help raise awareness and financially support anti-human trafficking organizations.
"Thank you for reading our story! If you want to be a part of it and part of many other people's story, you are able to do it right here with us! We hope that our sauces bring the joy to your home, that they brought and still bring... to ours."
